Summer Hair Care

I'm not ashamed to admit I've had quite a few up's and down's with my hair. I've gone from blonde highlights (not a pretty sight) to dark brown and back a few too many times, and the recovery process has been tough on my hair. I've spent countless summers in the sun and salt and haven't properly taken care of my hair and I've come to the conclusion that: 1. changing your habits is tough 2. getting your hair to be healthy again is even tougher.

After years trial and error, I've figured out a few ways to salvage your locks and look your best.
Disclaimer: I have very thin hair, and fine strands. My hair naturally dries pretty straight but I do get quite a bit of frizz and tons of fly aways. My hair also gets dried out very easily.

1. Use a great shampoo and conditioner: this combo is tried and true for me. No matter what I do to my hair whether it be not protecting it with a hat or not having it pulled back and my hair blowing around salty, this stuff fixes it all. The shampoo smells incredible, and the conditioner immediately restores moisture without weighing my hair down too much.

2. A Wet Brush: if you don't have one of these, get one ASAP. I brushed my hair with a square, hard brush for years and always saw huge amounts of hair loss and breakage (another thing my hair is still recovering from) and couldn't figure out why. Well... my brush was too tough on my fragile strands and after changing to a Wet Brush, I saw a significant decrease in breakage.

3. Hair Therapy mask: I am a firm believer in therapy. You might not think you need therapy, but it's really good for all of us. Same goes for your hair. Moisture and rejuvenation is something you should never short your hair, skin, or nails of.

4. Moroccan Oil: I've used this religiously for 8 years. This oil may honestly be the only saving grace my hair had back and forth from blonde to dark brown. Its amazing, and I also love to use a little extra after a day in the salt and sun.

5. It's A 10: I love using this for a few reasons. First, I don't always use heat styling on my hair and love letting it air dry. I put some of this in before I air dry and it always seems to dry really nicely. Second, it's perfect as a heat protectant. Rachel Parcell from Pink Peonies did a snapchat Q&A the other day and this is the product she raved about for her length and health of her hair. It's really as good as it seems!

These products save my hair in summer as well as lots of braids while at the beach or on the boat! If you have any questions regarding my hair or other products I use, don't hesitate to ask.
