Valentines Day Cookie Recipe

Valentines Day sugar cookie recipe.
Sweet treats are one of my favorite things to make. Don't get me wrong, I'm a girl who loves a good casserole (or hot dish as they call it around here, hmm), but treats are perfect for so many things. They're the perfect way to say "welcome to the neighborhood", an always appreciated birthday surprise, or just a way to say "I'm thinking about you".

Using an Apple Watch for baking.

Both of my parents worked growing up, so when I was younger I would have days off from school, I'd go spend the day with my Aunt Lori and we'd bake all day long! She taught me the basics of baking & I love her for that (amongst a million other reasons) to this day for it.

In honor of Valentine's Day being next week, I'm sharing with y'all my favorite sugar cookie recipe. Screenshot it & save it for later, it's a good one!

Buttery Sugar Cookie Recipe

Ingredients Needed:

  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 ½ tbsp of vanilla
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp of water
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1 ½ tbsp of baking powder
  • ¼ tbsp of salt

Step by Step:

  1. Mix together the 2 sticks of room temperature butter, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 ½ tbsp of vanilla. Cream together on medium speed until the butter is mixed in completely.
  2. Add 1 egg & 1 tbsp of water. Mix until light and fluffy.
  3. Combine 3 cups of flour, 1 ½ tbsp of baking powder, and ¼ tbsp of salt in a separate mixing bowl. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the cream mixture using only a portion of the dry mix and blending thoroughly each time.
  5. Split the mixture in half, wrapping each half in plastic wrap. Refrigerate the dough for an hour before rolling.
  6. Place flour on a large, floured surface and roll out the dough thin.
  7. Put your cookies on a coated cookie sheet and cook at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes.
For my cookies, I love using Pillsbury Whipped Vanilla Frosting & dying it whatever color I want!
Enjoy your cookies!

P.S. wearing my Apple Watch while baking is a life saver! I just tell Siri to set my timers & don't have to bother with dough covered hands!
